Daily Health Practices

Hello everybody,

I want to be in touch during this difficult time as we respond to the coronavirus outbreak in our community. This is an update on what we are doing at Hands on Health as well as some thoughts regarding daily health practices.

What is happening at Hands on Health:

I will continue seeing individual patients on a limited basis. In an effort to minimize the number of people at Hands on Health at a given time, I have suspended Community Acupuncture for the time being. I will continue to limit the number of individual patients to ensure minimal waiting room time.

While we have always maintained clean and sanitary procedures, we have stepped up our efforts, cleaning all surfaces after each patient and throughout the day. My intention is to maintain a space where patients can come to be treated for physical and emotional health while still minimizing exposer.

Some thoughts or reminders about daily health practices:

Acupuncture is only one way of many to stimulate your energy system, raise your vibrations, and improve your immune function. There are things you can do everyday.

Excess anxiety, frustration, and other forms of stress are known to suppress the immune system. Those emotions are real and are to be acknowledged and honored. Please also remember that stressful emotions can be counteracted and balanced with positive emotions. Specifically, gratitude, joy, love and humor. Those of you who have studied Spring Forest Qi Gong with me have heard me talk of the flip of the Dharma wheel, i.e. gratitude counteracts fear, etc.

I encourage you to spend some time each day with thoughts of gratitude, watching a funny or feel good movie, singing or playing music, enjoying the coming spring weather outdoors, grounding, or whatever makes you smile. All of this can be done while maintaining social distancing.

If you have a personal practice of Qi Gong, Yoga, and/or meditation, now is the time to make sure you are doing it everyday. This is the time these practices shine.

If you would like to try something new, or don’t know what to do, feel free to check out these Qi Gong resources. There, you will find some videos of me doing a Qi Gong practice, reference and links to my teacher, Chunyi Lin, and some meditations led by him.

Lastly, don’t under estimate the value of eating well, staying hydrated and getting enough sleep. Again, we are living in a stressful time. Give yourself the tools that your body, mind and spirit need to thrive.  If you have questions about things you can do, supplements etc or just want to talk, feel free to call or email me. I am here to help to the best of my knowledge.

All the best,

Maureen Quinn
